Our Activities during West Pride

RFSL

During West Pride 2025, RFSL Gothenburg are organizing a whole bunch of activities.

There will be important lectures and panel discussions, exciting workshops and exhibitions, and the return of fun traditions such as Dirty Bingo and Friendship Speeddating. What is your thing?

9/6 – 15/6  – Through Our Eyes: LGBTQ+ Asylum Seekers in Sweden (English)

For many LGBTQ+ asylum seekers in Sweden, life is marked by uncertainty and isolation. Having left their home countries to seek safety, they now find themselves caught in a long asylum process. They are seen as refugees before they are seen as people, and their stories are often told by others.

This project aims to change that perspective. Using their phone cameras, LGBTQ+ asylum seekers document their own lives—their struggles, moments of hope, and daily experiences.

When: 9/6 – 15/6

Where: Pride House, Göteborgs stadsbibliotek

9/6 – Living conditions of bisexuals in Sweden today (Swedish)

Despite bisexuality being the most common sexual orientation after heterosexuality, it is still an invisible sexual orientation. Bisexual people face prejudice and distrust both within and outside our community. This leads to a reduced opportunity to be open as bisexual and an increased risk of mental illness, risk use, discrimination and exposure to violence.

At this seminar, the Public Health Agency of Sweden will present its research review on the health of bisexuals, and after that a panel will reflect on what it is like to live as a bi in Sweden. What changes need to happen in society in general and in the LGBTQI community in particular for bisexuals to be truly included?

When: 9/6 – 3:45-4:30 PM

Where: Gothenburg City Library, Trappscenen.

9/6 – Consent through touch: an exploratory workshop (Swedish)

An experiential workshop where we explore consent as something more than just a simple “yes” or “no”.

During the workshop we will explore how consent can be experienced and felt in the body, and reflect on the different nuances of consent – from feeling safe and comfortable giving or receiving touch, to being able to put into words what is felt in the moment.

This is a workshop for all LGBTQ people who are curious about understanding and feeling consent on a deeper level – not just in theory, but in the body. A place where we can explore boundaries, respect and intimacy in an open and non-judgmental way.

When: 9/6 – 5:30-7:30 PM

Where: RFSL Gothenburg, Stora Badhusgatan 6, floor 9

9/6 – Gender affirming care for non-binary people (Swedish)

There is a lot happening in gender affirming care, but there is still a lot to be desired. In this conversation, we focus on gender affirming care for nonbinary trans people. What is the access to care for nonbinary people like today, what are the wishes and do they differ from the wishes of binary trans people?

Representatives from Sveriges Ickebinära, Transammans and Patientföreningen för transpersoneren will participate in a conversation led by Lio Gustafsson from RFSL Gothenburg.

When: 9/6 – 6:30-7:15 PM

Where: Gothenburg City Library, Trappscenen

10/6 – The new gender identity law (Swedish)

On July 1, 2025, the new Gender Identity Act will come into effect – what does it mean in more concrete terms and what is the difference from before?

In this conversation, you will meet representatives from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen ) who will talk about the change in law and what it means, as well as the knowledge support that has been developed in connection with the new Gender Identity Act. After the presentation, we will have a discussion about the changes and what they will mean for transgender people.

In addition to transgender people and other people who are interested in knowing more about the change in law, this presentation is also specifically aimed at healthcare professionals.

When: Tuesday 10/6, 14.15-15.00

Where: Trappscenen, Gothenburg City Library

10/6 -Workshop on good health as a transgender person (Swedish)

Research shows that transgender people as a group have poorer physical and mental health. At the same time, many feel good, and we carry resilience within us. At this workshop, we will talk about how we as transgender people can be even healthier. In a time of social debates that talk a lot about us, not with us, and where our rights are threatened around the world, it is especially important that we do not forget about our health.

The workshop is based on a co-creative approach where we define problems and solutions together. The workshop is primarily aimed at those of you who are transgender or close to a transgender person. What can healthcare do, what can close ones and relatives do, what does politicians need to do?

When: 10/6, 6.00-7.30 PM

Where: Götaverkstan, Götaplatsen 3

11/6 – Stories between the buttocks (Swedish)

Beautiful, shameful, smooth, hairy, sweaty, disgusting, amazing. The ass can be many things, and we all have a unique relationship with our own backsides. But how do we find pleasure beyond the norms and stigma attached to this body part that we all carry with us?

Robert Jacobsson, sexologist and PhD student in gender studies (known from Ligga med P3 and Anal extas) gives an introduction to the subject. The stage is then opened for a panel discussion with representatives from Gothenburg’s queer community who have a special interest in anal sex. The panelists freely share their experiences and perspectives on having sex with the ass in focus. They also offer tips and tricks to make it more enjoyable, safer and sexier for everyone.

When: 11/6 – 5:30-7:00 PM

Where: Trappscenen – Gothenburg City Library

This event gives them the space to talk about their journeys, the difficulties they face, and what visibility and support mean to them.

The discussion will highlight personal stories, everyday struggles, and the realities of seeking asylum as an LGBTQI person. It’s an opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand the experiences of those directly affected.

Whether you are an asylum seeker yourself or want to be a better ally, this panel offers an important chance to hear firsthand perspectives and reflect on how we can create a more inclusive and supportive community.
